I wanted to improve my procedural texturing skills, so I downloaded a heightmap of Mauritania's Richat Structure and experimented with creating some pre-vis style environment art. In my mind, this would be a level in an adventure-exploration type of game. I think it signals "Ooh, what's that over there? I wonder if there's anything interesting in the middle of it?" pretty well. I also tried playing around with mood using mist and post-production. I look forward to doing more of these in the future.
